The rich legacy of Hennessy began in 1765, when Irishman Richard Hennessy, after serving in the French army under the command of Louis XV, decided to dedicate himself to creating one of the world’s finest Cognacs. Throughout its history, the House of Hennessy has established itself as one of the leading cognac houses in its ability to innovate time and time again.
As the largest Cognac producer in the world, Hennessy possesses terroir in four of the grand cru regions including Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, and Fins Bois. With the largest reserve of Eaux-de-vie worldwide, the choice of aromas means that this cognac house can create some of the most complex cognac blends. Matured in oak casks following double distillation in copper stills, the nuanced nature of the Paradis begins its life.
One of Hennessy’s most precious spirits, Paradis was created in 1979 by Maurice Fillioux when Hennessy was asked for an ultra-prestige cognac higher in quality than XO. Hennessy Paradis Rare Cognac is the product of more than 200 different cognacs that have been aged in Hennessy’s cellars for up to a century. The youngest of the cognacs is 25 years old and the eldest is from the beginning of the last century (1900, 1910, 1920), and it’s 85% to 90% from Grande Champagne. The cognacs are blended and allowed to age slowly in old oak casks, a process that gives Hennessy Paradis its rare, fine aroma and precious golden colour. The taste is characterized by flavourful fruits such as pear, apricot, and raisin, with rose, iris, and lily floral accents. This exceptional cognac should be enjoyed neat in a crystal tulip glass. Savour in a snifter – no water, no ice, just bliss.
