Description
Glenfiddich 40 Years Old Our malt master handpicks some of the oldest casks in the world, marrying 40 year old vattings to craft a peerless whisky. Infinite depth and layer upon layer of aroma and flavour create a 40 year old unrivalled by other rare whiskies of this age. Cumulative Time is an appropriate name for this 40-year-old whisky because it’s made using a technique called remnant vatting. It’s a process unique to the distillery in which the malt master carries one batch over, time and time again, before marrying it with the casks selected for each subsequent release. Opened Whisky has a shelf life of between six months and two years. What happens in the bottle during that time? First alcohol evaporates and the taste of the Whisky becomes smoother. Furthermore, the air in the bottle contains active gases that slowly react with the flavour substances of the Whisky. There are very few casks which survive the maturation process with enough vivacity left in them to make truly great whisky, and you can rest assured that whiskies that reach 40 years old will be really incredibly complex, often having lost over 50% of the cask’s contents to evaporation.
