Description
Lysa Verdelho is a cultivar historically found as a vine planted and grown in continental Portugal before the fifteenth century. Until early in the 20th century, Verdelho was the principal wine making grape in Madeira.
Lýsa: Old Norse for ”to bring in the light; to proclaim”. A refreshing, aromatic wine made using the Verdelho grape. Really quite wonderful with a lovely citrussy lemon flavour and a hint of saltiness and minerality. Grapes are sourced from the lower Helderberg side of Stellenbosch, on the Cavalli farm. This is one of very few single bottlings of the variety in SA, as it is more frequently used as a blending component, to add a freshness and mineral finish.
What type of wine is Lysa Verdelho?
Lysa Verdelho is a crisp and refreshing fuller-bodied white wine. It has its origins on the Portuguese island of Madeira. Verdelho is now produced in many wine regions including the Hunter Valley.
